How do i take off the shift plate on my 99. I want to chrome it out, but can't seem to remove it. I've also tried search, but it didn't come up with anything other than pics. Thanks in advance.

 

Remove the ring around the shiftplate. It's really easy to take off you can use your hands. Then take off the shift knob. I heard some people use a screwdriver to take off the shiftplate but mine was fairly easy to remove with my fingers. Hope this helps.

Grab the shift gate, and move it to the right to "unhidge" it from the tabs..and move it to the left and unhidge the left side, and it comes off....well..after you remove the shift knob..
