what?!?! the stock headlights on the 2nd gen. TL are beautiful. I actually think that the stock lights are some of the best looking lights on cars these days. Dont do it, just clear your headlights if youre going to do anything

Its not that hard to do, if you use the oven method, i am talking about clearing out the headlight. It took me like 30mins to do both after i removed everything from the bumper.

The main advantage of projector headlights is that they have a shaper cut off. Meaning they can be aimmed higher without causing glares. Meaning it can be used to light up more of the road ahead since they are aimmed higher.
Does projector headlights offer higher lumes then reflective types?
No, they must meet DOT/SAE standards (thats why aftermarket HID kits are illegal because they offer up to 3x more lumes then the headlight was made for), projector just light up more of the road because they can be aimmed higher.
Are projector type headlights more efficient at distributing light then reflector type?
Yes, however I like to add that newer projector headlights and free form type reflectors headlights are much more efficent then older parabolic reflectors type and older projector headlights. Projectors are efficient at distributing lumes but so are the reflector headlights on the 2nd gen TL.
I also like to add that retro fitting projectors lens to headlights that were design to be reflective type is pretty stupid. Other then looking stupid during the day time, you can be losing lumes and the cut off pattern can be lower then it was (resulting in less of the road ahead of you being lite up) I urge all of you to stick with the OEM headlights because they were designed properly (or go buy a BMW or Saab w/ properly designed projectors).
The only other advantage other then a sharper beam pattern cut off that I can see in projector type headlights is the rainbow effect the lens has and I'm gussing that why most people retrofit their cars.

hzm82 is 100% right. I noticed that people these days rather have that blinding glare and the look of 6000K than to see the road.
I love the BMW lights, I wouldnt mind putting those in if they can craft it for our beautiful TLs.
