How to check if car has Factory Alarm installed?
So I'm a proud owner of a 2002 3.2 TL Type S, and I wanna install an alarm into my car.
The only thing is, I wanna use the original remote the car comes with, so I ordered one, and received it in the mail yesterday. It didnt come with programming instructions, so I looked on this site, and found the instructions.
The problem now is that when I follow the instructions, the remote doesnt work. I've atleast tried like 6 times and still no go.
I'm starting to think that my car doesnt have the factory installed alarm system, but then thats sort of impossible since all acuras come with it standard.
So then I called my Acura dealer, and asked him how much it would cost for them to program the remote, and they said $105+tax= ~$120
I really dont feel like payin $120 for them to program the remote when I could do it myself for free, but then again, my car probably has no factory alarm in the first place.
So can anybody suggest anything to me?

TL = Tranny Lubrication
Odd you want to install an aftermarket alarm?? IF you are asking if your TL has an alarm then open your window - lock your car and pull on the door lock knob - the alarm should go off.
You may have a bad remote - you check and change the battery? (Does it light up when you press on the buttons??)
The instructions on this site to program the remote does work... You should try it again...

ok...I tried what you guys said about openeing the door from the inside while the car is locked, and there was no alarm that went off.
And also, and to Bareback, I'm not trying to install an aftermarket alarm, its just that the guy I bought the car from lost his remote, so I ordered a replacement remote, the original one.
so what I'm tryin to do is get the original remote to work with the factory installed alarm.
