how to brake in oem pads and rotors?

got myself some time to replace all the pads and rotors on both my acuras (tl and rdx). also flushed the brake fluid. the tl and rdx both had the original pads and rotors when bought new except the front rotors on the tl. they just keep warping, something needs adjustment there.

anyway my question is how to brake in oem pads and rotors on rdx and tl. i know for hawk hps like pads i do few runs from 60-5mph starting gently and then moderate-hard braking. but for the oem pads i have been taking it easy. any suggestions?

The most common reason for warped rotors happens from over torquing the lug nuts. Make sure they are all torqued evenly and in the correct pattern. As for breaking them in. Drive easy for 500 miles trying to avoid any hard stops (this method should be done for ALL rotors and pads). After that have fun.

Out of curiousity do you bed the pads in during the first 500 miles or after?

After. I learned years ago from old grass roots racers that the key (especially when run what you brung racing) that you want to cycle the rotors to insure that they would last without warping. I have never had a warped rotor since doing it that way. I have over 200k on the rotors i have on now and many lapping days. Zero warping.

No. You drive easy for a few hundred miles, Then you do a few fast stops to bed the pads.

thanks. after driving about 250km easily which is like 160 miles i started braking moderately from 55-10mph. i only did this 2-3 times. i guess it won't happen again until another 400 miles.

Normal driving should do it. No hard braking or anything like that.
