Exclamation How To .... ?

Hello, My rearview mirrow in my ACURA 3.2TL-S 2002 leaked some black junk and ruined the plastic (looks like chrome) around the gear shift. Well, according to the acura parts, this is called escutcheon plate. Anyway, does anybody have any instructions on how to pull this piece of plastic out?

There is a DIY on it floating around, try searching for DIY

FYI - the contents are toxic, clean the car out ASAP.

This is the second time i've read about this stuff leaking. Is this a common problem for TL's or all cars with similar mirrors. How does it happen? Sitting in the hot sun all day?

It's been linked to a bad design. It has fluid inside of it which must expand in the heat damaging the seals. It normally appears to tint less before it blows up all over your car.

The contents are toxic and can be very harmful to your health.
