Question How 2 Tell If Tranny Is Sliping Help

Hey guys my TL is 4 months old with about 6k miles on it on tonight coming home from the movies the car has done something it never has done before while going about 60 the car started to make a noise as if it wanted to shut off it stuttered a bit twice for like 3 seconds while I was accelerating what could this be? Could this be my transmission ? Thinking so I just went out and drove the car hard and it drove fine. Should I be worried ?

Well, if you were in SportShift I'd say you hit the "rev limiter." If you're not watching real close and you hit the accellerator, depending on which gear you're in you could hit the "fuel cutoff" point (in the red area) and your engine will do the "stutter."

It freaked me out the first few times I hit it too! Now I'm learning just how much lead time I have to give when shifting so that I don't cause the stutter to occur. It seems especially easy to cause this happen while in 2nd gear!

Well check this, that has happend to my car and now a few times I hit the gas and the rpm's go way up but the car don't go anywhere. Thats does not sound like VSA or rev limiter to me? Tranny going kiddo, I am in the same situation you are in so don't feel bad. I went to the dealer this morning and next week they are going to take a look at it. I checked the tranny oil and it appeard like it may be a lil on the low side but 11,500mi why would it be low. I'll keep you updated with my car.

are u sure ur fillin supreme gas in your car? the dealer told me you need to fill 91 and above. Your engine makes noises if you dont use 91 octane or above. Just a thought!
