Angry hot something in the road today...

yup..on the highway this morning after leaving my friends house i was a bit lost and trying to get to work...realized i was about to get off on the wrong exit so i did a quick menuever over to the highway without realizing they had those hard metal, white, turtle looking things in the road and bam,clunk,fwopow...

i immediately knew i had to mess something up, i cant believe i was that stupid...but the car was riding pretty well except for a shaky steering wheel

i pull into my work driveway and i hear a big PSSSHHHHHH when i turn the wheel. i pull into my parking space and i see that the tire was really low

im about 30 minutes early so i figure "let me take this shit off and see whats wrong" pop off that rim and what do i see? a huuuuuuuuge bend in the rim and a CRACK in the center

so i bang the inner lip close enough to hold the air into the tire and go to costco and put some air in my tire.

i leave work and head straight to the place where i got my rims

after the inspection
Broken front rim (un-repairable)
bent rear rim
bubble and tear in front tire
alignment needed

rims are discontinued.... so i have to get a whole new set

any advice guys?

holly shit bro. I would have killed someone if that happened to my rims and tires. look around for used rims and tires. you can get something under $1k pretty nice. not sure if you have money. did you keep your stock rims? you can always go back to those. also try ebay for old style rims and google, maybe graigs list.

Take the rims to Metro Wheels on South Cobb Drive on Monday. They are experts at rim repair.

If it's too far gone, you wanted new rims a while back anyway, right?

A similar thing happened to me. Killed 2 tires and 2 rims. It was covered under comprehensive for me because a weel fell off a trailor and the car infront of me hit it as well causing it to be a moving object in the road. I would consider still making the insurance claim because it is possible for other suspension damage to have occured that would be covered as well in the insurance claim. I am still feeling a vibration between 45- 50 MPH that I have yet to identify even after 4 new tires, 2 new rims, alignment and a second ballencing of all 4 tires. I opted for Falken 912's on OEM rims.

lol^ makes sense...

so guys, i told the shop to take a look at the suspension components and make sure my alignment is in spec. my A/c was not working on the way to the shop today, do you think it may be due to me hitting something in therE? i also have a funky rattle under the car that i noticed when i closed the door. like a clanking sound

Take the money and roll it into your next set. You might as well sell the two good ones you have and get back even more. You could always go ghetto style and have two nice wheels up front with the stockers in the back. I actually see people doing this with some regularity.

Phee - For what it's worth, I still have my stock TL-P rims and tires that I could loan you or sell to you until you find new wheels. The tires have approximately 40% tread left and the rims are in excellent condition. I'm not that far from you - 10 minutes and around the corner maybe?
