Question Hood Liner

In addition to being a sound deadener and heat sheild, I was told (by my salesman) that in the event of an engine fire the fastners and the liner melt, then drop down onto the engine to help extinguish the fire. Is this true, did that much thought go into our cars?

I don't know for fact. But if it's made out of the right material, that sounds possible.
