Honda's cutting lease option in 3 states

Apparently Honda plans to stop leasing in 3 states (New York, Connecticut and Rhode). So if you plan to lease in those states, better do it this month!

No, I don't think so. I think what is saying is that if a leased car is in an accident, the leasing company (who technically owns the car) could be held liable (at least in part) for the accident. This would apply to any car that is leased, not just Hondas.

In Canada, I don't think any dealer will lease you a car unless you have $1 million in liability. I don't know what the comprehensive costs are. However, many lawsuits seem to have settlements much greater than $1 million these days. If someone is going to sue, they'll go after the people with the deep pockets (i.e. Honda or a bank). By the sounds of things, the law in certain states allow someone to go after the lease company. I'm sure if someone sues, they'll take the 1 million liablity from your insurance company, and then they'll go after Honda or whoever for more. (Or at least there's that potential).
