Homelink with Rolling code garage door opener - help

Hello,

I have tried for over 20 minutes, however, I was unsuccessful at programming a the Homelink for a Genie Garage door opener.
I had cleared the homelink by pressing the two outer buttons until the triangle flashes (1-2 minutes).

Afterwards, I had pressed the training/learning button and then press the homelink button within 20 seconds. I pressed and released the homelink button twice.

Also, I tried to press training/learning button first, transmitter button and homelink button at the same time.
Press homelink and transmitter twice.

On both methods, I could not get this to work after several attempts. Is the Acura TL suppose to be parked in the garage door to make this work.

Please help.
Thanks in advance.

It took me several times. You have to hold the homelink buttons down until it flashes fast i think, then it learned it. Read the manual again to make sure on that, but i know you need to keep it pressed down until it flashes fast.

Homelink is always a pain in the butt to program. I have a genie with rolling code. You don't have to use the garage door remote if you have rolling code. It doesn't work that way anyways. If you open the light casing on the genie....there should be a small button with a led. If you press that button the led will blink (I guess you know about this since you said training/learning button). You have to run to your car really fast and press and hold down the button you want to program (make sure the button memory is cleared or sometime it won't work) Press for about 15 seconds and then let go and press that button again. The garage door should operate now. I program with my car outside of the garage. Also make sure the led is still blinking....on my model....the led flash faster along with my homelink. Thecar doesnt' need to be inside as long as you're within the range.

Its just a PIA to do, but keep trying. I recall when I installed my Genie door opener, my Accords homelink programmed right away and my TL took about one half hour of frusterating annoyance, which is strange as they are both the same systems.

I always park under the door opener with the sunroof open and stand on the seat with my body through the sunroof to get to the learn button. Food for thought unless you have 12 foot ceilings.
