holes in the head j32A2

i was doing a valve adjustment on my car and i accidentally dropped the gauge and it fell into one of the holes on the bottom of the head. i was using a mini feeler gauge. does that hole just go back to the block and into the oil pan? im guessing its a hole so the oil drains back to the block. would i need to take apart the whole motor or could i just remove the oil pan?

Have you tried with a magnetic tip??? If the wholes are the ones I´m thinking then you will have to take apart the head to find the sucker.

Those are oil drains that lead back into the block and eventually into the pan. I hope you get lucky and find it by removing the oil pan. You dont see it at all looking into the hole with a light? Have you tried one of the small telescoping magnets to see if you can get it with that? Maybe it didnt make it very far down.

i havent tried a magnetic telescope thing yet im try and find one tomorrow and i tried looking down the hole and really couldnt get at the right angle to see all the way down. yea i was hoping it fell and stayed in the head but i tried looking around i couldnt see it so the only other place it could go is down one of those drain holes. ill be towing my car to my garage prob this weekend and will be taking off the oil pan and hoping its there

the hole goes straight down to the oil pan doesnt it? or does it take little detours? the feeler gauge is bent some that way it was easier for me to use

get a blanket and a flash light and lay the blanket across the motor and lay down and try looking for it

That or get a Borescope and see if it will fit down the hole some and look

try sticking a metal cloths hanger with a magnet attached to the other end down the hole and see if you can get it to stick to it?

Thats why you leave the the magnet at the top of the cloths hanger and use one big enough to not be able to fall into the hole.
