Thats exactly what I thought at first. I have the same exact hole!!! I am hoping that there are more than just these 2 instances. It was weird!! Just got in my car and there was all this carpet looked like someone took scissors to it.
I have the exact same hole. I've been waiting for a chance to bring it back to the dealer.

Whew! I just went and checked mine just to be sure... and no holes in my carpet. You're talking about the section of carpet NOT covered by the floormats, right?
Anyway, since my last car's carpet was torn up I vowed to keep my TL-S carpet clean. All it takes is a little dirt or a few tiny pebbles and your carpet starts getting chewed up like crazy just from moving your feet while driving.
Time to break out that vacuum cleaner, boys!

It shouldn't be normal wear and tear. The hole is under the front of the driver's seat. The hole would have to be made by your right foot. Since I use my right foot for the gas and brake, I don't see how it could wear down in that one spot.

I dont think that you should assume that our carpets are dirty. As decky said the hole is whefre the factory floormat is secured. It is so high up that I would have to be intentionally trying to rub my foot in that spot. PS..... It is impossible to do while driving it would have to be done while the car is stopped and the door open.

Here is a pic. The hole is about the size of a nickel. It is the lightest part of the picture. You can also see the outline of where the floormat goes right next to the hole. It's not actually a hole, but the carpet is worn there for some reason. The top of the pic is the center console and the front of the drivers seat is on the right.

Get back in your car.
Put it in reverse. Back it up for about 10 feet.
Stop. Now put it in drive. Put your foot on the accelerator.
STOP !!!
Before you foot touches the accelerator...see if the right part of your shoe (right above the heel) is touching the carpet.
That might be what is wearing your carpet out.

that seems to be along ways away from where your foot could possibly rub on. ill pull my foot that high once and awhile with the cruise control on thats like over a foot from the pedal. but my floor mat looks like that right by the GO PEDAL from 108,000 miles of driving though
Where do you put your left foot? I just realized after this post was brought back to life that I sorta cross my left foot under my right leg when I'm driving on the highways. I have the rubber mats but right where your hole is, is around where my left leg and the outside part of my shoe rests. Could this be a possiblility?
The hole occurs because when we get out of our cars, we use our right foot to push us out. I used to do this without even thinking about it. Since I am selling my car now, I make sure that I don't make that mistake again. There should be some sort of vinyl piece there to prevent this. Acura was aware of the problem due to previous complaints. This is not widespread, but far from an isolated incident.
I have the same problem. Now I can print this out and go back to the dealer. When I took it to them the first time, it was a big argument because the service rep swore I had to have spilled something on the carpet and refused to fix it.
