Hit by a 17 y/o

Well people, I have been hit. Hard.

Sitting on 237 east in stopped traffic, I got nailed by a kid driving about 55 mph. I saw it coming in my rear view mirror, cranked the wheel to the left (into the carpool lane) and floored the gas hoping for the best. He nailed me on the left corner of the car shoving me under a guard rail after spinning me about 100 degrees to the left. CHPer thought it was totaled but the tow guy said they would most likely fix it.

My question: Can they fix it? Will it ever be the same? Should I get rid of it after the repair?

This is my first accident so I don't exactly know what to do. Insurance and CHP both agree the kid was completely at fault. Thank God I made my manuever or I would have hit the car in front of me.

But here is the Shi**y thing. There were about 20 cars that must have seen that accident, 2 people stopped to see how we were, and nobody offered to be a witness. I hate Bay Area drivers.

Sorry to say this but it will never be exactly the same. When I wrecked my previous car I returned it to the body shop four different times and it still wasn't right.

That really sux, but like you said, at least you were able to move a little to help prevent more cars being involved.

Like stated above, the car will never be the same. If they don't total it, I would ditch it, just my opinion though.

I would love to trade it in but wouldn't it be worth zilch? I am hoping they total it tomorrow.

it depends on the damage and where. I hit a car last July, this girl ran the red light, and I hit her passenger side door at around 20- MPH and the damage was over $9K. I should be fine after they fix it, I would recommend you taking it to a dealer instead of an independent body shop so if anything goes wrong in the future you can hold Acura somewhat accountable. Good luck!
