just wanted to know if any of you guys or gals out there (with an intake) hear a hissing sound when one slowly steps on the gas...is this a normal occurance once you add an intake? thanks

 

i get that too. I just think it's the vtec.

 

HEHEHE...it's not VTEC..he said when he SLOWLY steps on the gas...not when he floors it. The hissing sound is just the sound of the air traveling throw your intake. It's normal..i bought a CAI because of the cool noise it makes.

 

I have a short ram intake and it does that hissing sound when travelling at low speed

its normal. just the suction sound of the engine sucking air through the intake

 

Keep listening it makes noise all over. Listen when you step off the gas at moderate speed and you can hear it hiss. It hisses at idle. I didn't like it at first but I've become accustomed to it.

 

when you are in park on neutral as fast as you can floor it and let off and listen to the sound it makes

 

so does the cai help gas mileage or does it make it worse

 

it's the air filter sucking in air... all intake has that

 

depends. it can improve gas mileage, however, if you like the noises too much then you are probably wasting gas by trying to hit VTEC all the time.


On the freeway I've noticed a big improvement in gas mileage since I installed my CAI.
