Highway speeds in 2nd..
Yesterday, I had a friend come with me to pick my car up from the shop (new shift solenoid). She drove my car back (03 TL-S) while I drove back in my dad's car which I had been borrowing. Apparently she was confused by the shift pattern with the D5, D4, etc. or something and put the car in sport shift, which would mean that she'd been driving back in second gear. I don't think she noticed because she didn't mention anything to me about the car driving weird. In fact the only reason I noticed that she was in second is because I was trying to pull a clip off my dashcam from an earlier date and clicked the wrong date and I heard the engine spinning really fast and thought oh shit.
I've googled this as much as I can and from what I've been able to tell the car should be okay for the most part as long as it didn't overheat, which I don't believe it did, and that I should just check the oil and transmission fluid. My tranny only has 5ish thousand miles on a fresh rebuild. I haven't had a chance to check the fluids or drive the car because I am out of town for Christmas. I had been planning to change the oil anyways so I will do that ASAP.
Is there anything else I need to be worried about?
One more thing: I looked through almost all of the footage to see if she ever figured out the gear selector was in the wrong spot and I noticed that after a while in 2nd the car would upshift (to 3rd, 4th, 5th, I dont know.. just lower revs and less noise), however when she would come to a stop and accelerated again the car would do the 1 to 2 shift but stay in second for a while again. I guess it's sensing the tranny getting hot? Maybe it has a timer?
With that being said I'd estimate that my car spent probably around 15 miles in 2nd gear at around 65 mph

The ECU will shift on its own to avoid damage to the trans. It most likely detected the fluid reaching higher than normal temperatures.
Just check the fluids and top off if needed and all should be ok.

I checked the fluid today and nothing seemed wrong. Didn't smell burnt or anything and was a nice red color. I also drove it around and it shifted normally, so I think I'm in the clear. Thank y'all!

I drove home the other week when my tranny went out. Dont worry about it. There are some early posts on the form where people did that too without harm. If you autocross the car you're doing the same thing.
