Post High Pitched Sound From Headlight

Hey everyone,

I installed a new ballast for my driver side headlight and when I put in the bulb and turned on the car to make sure that it works, there was a high pitched sound, kind of like a low whistling sound coming from the headlight area.

The bulb, which IS old, has now turned pink. It's obvious that I need a new pair of D2R bulbs, however, what was that sound?

I also replaced the entire headlight assembly, as the previous one had a crack somewhere and water got in it from a carwash - which is probably what killed my old ballast. So new ballast, new assembly, new bulbs soon. However, should I replace the connector wire from the ballast to the bulb, or do you guys think it's fine to roll with?

Also, can anyone point me in the right direction for Phillips or Osram 5000k D2R bulbs please?

Thanks for reading and your help!

-Bobby

I think that's how HIDs are, high pitched when they WARM UP.... does the pitch stay for long? as in like a minute and over?

@Krazy

Yeah that is what ballasts sound like. Usually they do it when you first turn them on.

aftermarket ballasts (special slims) do that.

ck our aftermarket suppliers- you need a new HID kit with ballast connector wire and bulbs
unreal low prices! under 100 bucks for both sides!~
get the $15 relay kit for better results

water gets in headlight housing and leaks on ballast = death
new parts are waterproof, and you locate ballast on frame rail away from problems

excelerate carries Kaixen bulbs which are awesome, 100 bucks a pair and def worth it.
run them several years now, only removed to swap from 6k to 5k for more white on the ground to see by
