"High Mileage" oil

I would like to get some knowledgable and experienced responses on the topic of high mileage oil, such as Castrol GTX Hi-Milelage oil. I have a 99 TL with 98k miles and am wondering if I would get any benefit or see any adverse affect from using said oil. Any views on this out there? Thanks.

read the labels- mobil1 high mileage is really the old good mobil1
others add stuff for actual old cars like my beater truck

100k miles on a TL, its just due for its first tune up- water pump-timing belt
Meaning the engine is barely broken in yet!!!- not a high mileage,, as far as the oils with extra additives to stop leaks is concerned

Use whatever you like- dino- semi syntheic blend- full synthetic
Our megamod used dino oil for 100k- then synth for another 100k miles!
pulled the engine and inspected- the cylinders were like new inside- engine perfect!
he only pulled it to drop a cl-s motor and 6 speed in an 00 TL

just get a high quality oil like amsoil or mobil one and run longer intervals 8k plus. there is no need for high mileage oils.

Run what you like, there is no need to move to a 'high mileage' oil these days. If you had a domestic and were burning a little you might find it helped.

Tom - I'm surprised you didn't offer up seafoam to clean out the oil passages.

I'm at 123K right now, and ran the first 90k on regular oil, then switched to a blend and now I'm on mobil1 extreem good to 15K.

I'm with the others, just use a high quality fully synthetic oil with a good filter.

-Amsoil
-Penzoil Platnum
-Mobil 1
