Red face High Brake Light and Rear Spoiler!!!

Hey guys. When I picked-up my TLS, the dealer had installed the rear deck spoiler, but removed the bulbs for the high brake light under the subwoofer in the back window. Why?

They gave me the bulbs they removed, but should I have them put back in. I guess I would have four separate brake lights off the rear then. Any thoughts? Think it would look funny?

My dealer gave me a choice to keep the lights or turn it off. I decided to keep them.

Thanks. I think I will have them reinstall the lights. I wish they would have given me the choice.

In some states it is illegal to have both, the spoiler light and the deck light on at the same time. I like one light personally which is the spoiler. Two sometimes makes it look weird.

I faced this same dilemma recently. I tried both settings and found that I prefered to shut-off the regular third brake light. (I left the bulbs in but I pulled out the sockets.) This really gives it a cleaner look to the back.

Cars with dealer installed spoilers will have the third brake light disconnected.
This was done on my TL as well as my 90&94 Accords. with dealer installed spoilers.

Yeah, I thought that they were only to disconnect that subwoofer brake light?? Why in the world would they take out the bulb? Maybe, they didn't know what they were doing???

My dealer gives you the choice. I have not yet seen it both ways. I guess I can tell them to leave them in and check, if it looks bad then disconnect.

I would rather have them take out the bulbs then cut the wire. I agree with the 1 light. I vote keep the spoiler light and leave the bulbs out.

you don't have to cut the wire. there's an inline connector that you can unplug that's right under the third brake light bulbs.

If you have both it looks like a crappy job, just one would look more professional IMO.

Lightbulb

Basically the dealer just re-routed the connection to the regular brake light to the spoiler.

I think cars with a "deactivated" package shelf third brake light and a secondary spoiler mounted third brake light look kind of unclean. That's the primary reason I'm getting either the WW or Mugen low-rise spoiler. Just my humble opinion...
