High Beam HIDs and DRLs?
High Beam HIDs and DRLs?
I have a HID kit I want to install in place of my high beams. When i plug in the HIDs the DRLs dont' work (I'm assuming not enough power is going to the ballast to turn on the lights)
My question is, is it alright to run HIDs with the reduced power running to them is it doing any damage, or should I disconnect the high beam DRLs.
I'm okay with the DRLs not working cuz I did the fog light mod and use those as my DRLs.
I tried searching, but I couldn't find a direct answer. Thanks.

You cant run HIDs as DRLs. You will have to remove the DRL fuse. I dont know which one it is off the top of my head but its in the manual. (also probably shown on one of the 3 fuse box covers.
I am aware that they take a while to warm up and I won't be able to 'flash' the high beams , but I rarely do that anyway.
I just want more light on the highways (which are very quiet here) at night, and I got the kit for $40 for a friend so I thought, why not.

100% Agree!
I have them on my Highs for around 2 years Now, Not being able to Flash is a Complete CON but the Incredible light output at the Highs is a Gigantic PRO... Obviously taking care not to flash incoming drivers and being polite to turn them off...
I was going to shout RELAY KIT! but Didnt know that it only required to remove the DLR Fuse since my Car doesnt have it
