well all you need to do for the 6000k is buy a new bulb, you dont need a HID kit because you already have HID lights on your car.

if i wanna get 8000k's, would there be any 8000K bulbs sold individually? cux i've only seen 8000k sold as a conversion kit on ebay,
by the way, if i were to get 8000k can i only buy the bulb and replace the stock bulbs or are there more modifications, i've only heard ppl switching to 6000k

From what I've been told, anything higher than 6000K will not work with your HID sytem. You would have to replace the entire system.

You can upgrade to 6000k hid's without changing the whole system. But you better save up. those are expensive...

TL_99, you want 8000K's??? I guess you must enjoy getting pulled over by police, because the color output of 8000 kelvin is a deep purply/blue..You would get pulled over in a heartbeat. Any cop that sees those as your headlights wont even hesitate to pull you over. 6000k is the max anyone should use. Dont waste your money on 8000k.

Yup, and the reason why is really dumb. I once had a blue windshield on my Yamaha FZR600 and a friend of mine; who is a cop, told me that I should take it off because I will get pulled over at night. I was like WTF? He said at night, if someone was to follow me and the headlight from the vehicle shines through my blue shield will reflect a blue light and people will think that I'm on a police vehicle........Anyways, the moral to this is that, blue or red lights are illegal because they look like police cars, and it's not a very good idea to have 8000k because that's like violet or purple which is even worst.

1) if you get 6000k you can stay with the stock ballasts no problem
2) if you get 8000k then you most likely need new ballasts coz' it need to burst out more
3) imho don't get 8000k, they suck.... very dim on the road and too blue to attract more cops. they are good for shows but on the road it's a big no-no
4) imho, and most likely all who know about hid out there, get ONLY philips or osram bulbs. for me it's philips if all possible, the biggest and most reputable manfuacturer in the world.
5) and for your record, philips and osram are the two biggest companies in hid. they only have up to 6000k bulbs, go figure

very very easy, i did mine in maybe 10 minns. took off the cover, twist off the plug, take off the clip, take the bulb out. put the new bulb in and put the clip on, put in the plug, and then the cover, bingo!

you will need d2r, as the case for all 2nd gen tl. a set of philips 6000k d2r would be 250 shipped. this is for a pair of bulbs

if you talk about a whole system (including ballasts, etc...), i would still go for philips (the most expensive) for 460 shipped

nop, 00 headlight is d2r, it already has hid so you don't need ballasts.

the highbeam is 9005 but i don't see any reason to upgrade it

if you have 02, the fogs are 9006 and that's the kit you should get. i have 9006 hid kit on my 02 tls

just the bulbs or the whole hid kit?

for the bulbs, 250 shipped
for the kit, 460 shipped

all philips 6000k bulbs. for the kit it's the philips ballasts as well.

9006 are fog lights.
D2R are the HIDs, and these are the ones you want!

apparently for the low beam HID, no conversion kit needed and the bulbs are around 250 dollar-ish...if you are converting fog lights to HID, a conversion kit is needed and cost about 460-ish, all this I have heard, haven't actually bought anything yet.
