HID Upgrade

Hey guys,

I've searched and haven't been able to find a straight answer, so.... can someone please explain to me the basics of upgrading my HID bulbs (ie. hardware? plug and play? good temps?)? My goal here is to have a cheap upgrade to about 8000k, but I wasnt sure if I needed to upgrade the ballasts and get a kit or if I could just plug/play new bulbs (d2r i think they are?). Thanks in advance.

Phillips Ultinon

Stock (4300k)

Phillips Ultinon (6000K)

I can't tell any light depreciation from the stock to these. Driving in rain is not any different either. I know that they say its 10-15% less light output, but honestly dude, you wont be able to tell. The much nicer looking light, and tremendous whitish-blue output on the ground is worth it.

When you upgrade the stock system it is mostly about color and a slight increase in light output. For instance a 6000k bulb would be extreme white and a 8000k is deep blue. Check this thread out for KAIXEN bulbs:

thanks guys, those pics are definitely very nice, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with 8000k.

as for that group buy, I found a good seller on ebay selling good quality bulbs with warranty for 3000+ hours for 95 shipped.

thanks again everyone, if theres anymore info, post it.

95 sounds awfully cheap...i'd be sceptical, but you get what you pay for!

i paid 65 for my D2s 6000k's. the guy i bought them for also had 8000k's

they are the same brand as my fog kit and i have had them for over a year now and they have always worked. they also come with a year warentee.

you will like any you get, trust me just make sure the ones you look at are clear bulbs and not tinted that takes away from light output and looks tacky.
