HID theft aler in bay area

Well, it finally happened. Someone tried to jack my lights over the weekend at Mercadero Theatre in mission college. (went to see 12:40 am show of American Sweetheart.)

My front bumper is now scratched and left side panel is now bent. The thief did not make away with the light. The side panel is slightly bent but bodyshop told me that is can be popped back in place at least what I was told. The front bumper needs to be painted. Estimate is $500-$600 to fix the car. BTW I just had the front bumper repained about 1 month ago after my ex hit another car in parking lot.

DAMN It!!!!!! STUPID THIEF. WHY NOT TAKE THE ENTIRE CAR SO I CAN BUT A NEW ONE. INSTEAD YOU HAVE TO F**k WITH THE BUMPER. IF YOU WANT TO DO A JOB AT LEAST DO MORE DAMAGE. NOW I HAVE TO PAY $500 OUT OF MY POCKET. DAMN YOU. I CURSE YOU ENTIRE FAMILY.

Sorry to hear about that. We have the same problem out here on the East coast! Make sure they didnt do any damage to the mounting holes for the bumper.

Sincere regrets - sorry to hear of the damage, but you still have your lights intact! Good luck with the repairs!

Yeah I heard the same thing here too! A buddy of mine had his headlights stolen off his A4 over at Century25 theaters here in the Union City.

Man that sucks! My sincere condolences bro!

It's always some faggot ass punk to tryin to jack accessories off other peoples fine auto's. I've noticed a lot of Civic's are rollin around with the Xenon or PIAA hyperwhite / hyperblue bulbs.
I guess there not the same as the discharge the Xenon's housing puts out.

**** em. Hope that dude who f'ed with your car gets hit by a drunk driver or better yet broadsided by a runaway ricer!!!

Damn... that sucks!!

You know that the Mercado is filled with huligans..

At least it wasn't your 540!!

On a side note.. I saw a Prelude this weekend that definately had HIDs from an Acura. The color match is unmistakable..

Sh*t, it is discouraging to hear the practice of gouging TL headlights is spreading to the West Coast. i guess it was bound to happen. Hope it doesn't spread across the border.

Better than $3500 for the lights AND the $500 to fix the rest of the car. But I agree. sorry for the loss. Hey. If you start driving you can make it to our NOVA shock sensor meet.

Park there again next week. Go in 2 cars. (make sure one is not an Acura). Keep watch in the 2nd car instead of going to the movies. When you catch that b@stard, I'll come over and kick is @ss also.

People who steal should have their hand chopped off, this way they can only steal twice.

My bodyshop left me a message on my machine. It looks like my car would be fixed by thursday.

I am still steamed. It looks like nothing serious was done. The light housing still looks okay.

From now on, I am going to park the TL in the garage. This is getting pathetic.

STUPID RICER. BUY YOUR OWN BALLAST.

There's gotta be a way to stop or atleast discourage them. How about engraving the headlights with a mark that you can see visually...like your name on the bottom of the lense. And if they do steal it...and you see it on another car. Wait for his ass to come out and beat the crap out of him.

thaitea, I was just thinking the same thing. How about this: acid-etch them. Just like they do to our windows, do the same thing to our HID's.

This is the best solution I've heard of so far. Get etching on the lenses (don't know if the plastic housing would be a problem) with something like "Anti-Theft" and then the VIN number of the car on them.

The only real problem with this though is many of the thieves want the guts only and don't care about the lamp housings. Maybe they could start stamping the VINs in flourescent orange paint on the back of the ballasts. It won't stop it but it might discourage them.
