why are the RLs equipped with such bright HIDs (i'm so jealous!). My gf owns a 99 RL and her headlights are so white and bright that it looks like she has her high beams on except its white...my 03 TL fails in comparison...u can see the whole world with it...my question is, what's the output on these RL oem hids? can i switch dem out and install in mines? BTW i posted at the RL forum but deres so little activity dere and no one responded, hoping some of you guys could provide me wiht the information. THanks!

 

im thinking its the same bulb, you're just noticing the different reflector in the housing itself.

 

Same bulb, and look closely, it's ALMOST the same reflector. Not much variance. Park them side by side in darkness and look at the beams and it's hard to tell the difference. My TL HIDs are just as good as RLs, I know because I've compared. Sounds to me like your girlfriend's RL has HIDs that are aimed too highly, might want to check that.

 

Remember that HID bulbs change color over time. New 4000k HID's are more yellowish and brighter and get bluer and dimmer over time.
