HID lights

HID lights
Hi. I bought my 03 TL about a year ago in the USA. I brought it to Canada where I live. In Canada cars require daylight running lights (DRL). I got the Acura dealer in Canada to install them. They put the DRL activation stuff on the regular HID lights rather than on the high beams. Acura TL's that were bought in Canada have the DRL on the high beams.
I asked the dealers about this and they said that the DRL kit has to be done to the regular lights. O.K.
The problem I have is that within 6 months the HID inverter went out. Cost me $500 to replace. Last week the other one went out. I think it is because the HID lights are working all the time becuase of the DRL set up.
My question is whether what the dealer told me is true? Do the DRL kits have to be put on the regular lights?
Thanks in advance, Deep.

Tell that dealer to get their heads out of their asses and install it properly. It belongs on the high beams, not the HIDs.

What a bunch of douchebags. What dealership is this? Fuckin idiots over there. Any acura tech with a 10th of a brain would know that the DRL system is hooked up to the high beams on our cars. Putting it to the low beams is going to do exactly what it already did.
Get a written second opinion from another acura dealership in your area or a reputable mechanic, and perhaps that would help you in fighting them for having to pay to replace the ballast (inverter).
Wow, I am so pissed off at the level of ignorance and blatant disregard for simple truths that plague dealerships. How can techs, who are usually regular guys be so terrible as to pull such crap. It would most likely would cost them no more than to simply do it right the first time.

yup, call the Acura customer care center number and tell them, what a bunch of idiots...DRL systems run at a reduced wattage on a halogen bulbHID systems must have a certain wattage to work..too low and you get flicker or nothign at all and a dead ballast(s) soon after...same reason why you can't use dimmers for compact florescent bulbs in your house..that svc team there is beyond stupid in what they did to you...
