HID Fogs
I noticed that the factory fog bulbs are HB2; my question is... has any one ever installed 9005 bulbs in place of the HB2's? I have a 9005 HID set from my Denali when I traded it in... the bulb seems to fit but the collar on the HB2 seems to be wider... would this affect the seal between the housing and the bulb?
Regards.

I assume your talking about the '02 and up stock foglights. They are 9006 and 9005 is two totally different thing. 9005 is what your highbeam is using, you can use that for your highbeams if you like, but it won't fit in the foglight housing.

Yeah, if you have Type-S, your fog light bulbs are 9006 and 9005 will not fit in there.
Look at the pic below.
One on the right is 9006 and 9005 on the left. Can you notice YELLOW round tab is slightly bigger than 9005 RED round tab??
Also the tab on top is on different sides.

like i said ....nothing a file cant fix....i had 100 watt bulbs in the high n low beams when i had my legend.....i just filed the tabs off that didnt line up and you also have to shave the inside tabs where the plug goes into the socket......this is only what i did and it worked fine ....if you are planning on doin this with high wattage halogen bulbs you will need to get the heavy duty wire harness kit otherwise you will burn up your lamp sockets.

Theres a little confusion going on in here. Edub is absolutely right.
That B makes a HUGE difference
H4's are NOT THE SAME as HB4's
9006 = HB4, they are the same thing; LOWBEAMS
9005 = HB3, they are the same thing; HIGHBEAMS
TL-S NUT, On the 2002 and up TL,s if you actually look at the bottom of your headlight lens it lists our bulb used; D2R(lowbeam HID), and HB3(highbeam). I think the HB3 and 4 is just the Japanese classification for our 9005 and 9006 bulbs respectively.
That HID kit you have is a 9006 low beam bulb and WILL plug into and work with your foglights. Makes sense as NO US car like a Denali would use a 9005 bulb for its lowbeams, it would use a 9006 or HB4.
Hopefully mine will be here tomorrow. I just got the Phillips 6000k kit so my fogs really match my headlights.
