HID Extra half off sale + questions
HIDextra has a black friday going on this weekend.
I'm going to buy a kit to fix my light flicker and have some questions about the kits. I couldn't get a hold of anyone on the weekend
http://www.hidextra.com/d2r-d2s
1) What's the difference between the premium kit and the others? It looks like the premium kit is only 35W. Is it easier to install?
2) Will I be able to use my Kaixen bulbs with the 55w kit or will they burn out much faster?
3) I've seen the threads on 35w vs 55w. Has anyone so far had issues with the 55w?

use the kit thats normally 59$
also suggest the relay kit (get 1) 16$ regular price
you can NOT use your 35 watt kaixens with 55 watt ballast !!!!!
you can use them with the 35 watt kit,,,Im doing that with no issues
if you go to 55 you have to make sure the lights are aimed a little lower than spec-
or you will blind oncoming traffic, the relay kit is a really good idea for that install
If you have projector headlights its a different story, but our reflector housings...
iirc you have to cut the OE connector off the 2 wires even with the premium kit
Suggest mounting ballast to the side of frame rail, tiny sheet metal screws and/or zip ties linked together for length needed
you have to enlarge the edge (I made a V cut) 1 existing hole in light housing to get the new connectors for bulb wire to fit thru
easy diy overall

Kind of jumping in on the conversation here. So I can use 55w kaixens with a 35w ballast? I ordered the kit that is initially 69.99(the "best seller") with 5000k. I also got the fog light kit. Good buy? I couldn't resist the 50% off haha

no!!!!!!!!!!!! you need 35 watt bulbs in a 35 watt ballast system
and 55 watt bulbs in 55 watt ballast
cant power 55 off a 35...ballast create incredible high voltage to start the lights, then they run on lower power
You wouldnt plug your 110 volt toaster into the 240 volt clothes dryer plug would you? or vice-versa (one reason the plugs are so different)
if you choose to: video it for us please!! I see a winner of americas dumbest mechanics in the making~

the fogs were plain bulbs stock- hid is going to be blinding bright depending on the current reflector in housing
aim them low and at the lane edge lines to prevent someone losing control and driving right into you!
their intent is to get below fog on the ground and not bounce back reflection off moisture droplets = blinding you!

I totally misread the two above posts, my apologies. For some reason I thought you were saying saying that 55 worked with 35. I was planning on sticking with 35w, and never would've tried that unless something explicitly showed me that it was feasible...
01tl4tl, I seriously appreciate all of your help on this forum. You have no idea how many times your answers have taught me something or showed me something new.
