Looking at a HID converson for the high beams... Those that have done it, what brant would you recommend and where get ?

Wow.. I hope you use high beam a lot.
Did you already get one for fog lamps?
IMO, PHILIPS kit is the best. or kit with hella ballasts with philips bulbs. 3000k golden ion color hid is available and they are pretty hot.

yup... live ne wi... lots of rural driving... know of where i can get a good converson system????

I do have replacement bulbs, but not the whole kit for 9005 high beams.
Probably Ebay would be a good place?

Its not a good idea to use HID's in the high beams unless you plan to leave it on for a while. The constant flickering of the HIGH BEAM on and off will ruin the ignitors. So if you plan to leave it on for a while then alright.

The new cars inlcuding the 3rd Gen TL's use a different mechanism to get the HID's in the High beams (bixenon0. Its a metal flapper in the headlight that opens up allowing light to be shined out higher giving it that high beam pattern. But essentially using the same ignitor and HID bulb.

Yup. If you go HID's for the high beams, you'll give up the ability to flash your high beams. If not, you could damage them.

I bought a conversion kit for my driving lights, and they made a big difference in lighting with no sacrifices. There was no glare, and they could be left on whenever needed. Just mount the ballasts properly, I put them under my headlamps to keep them away from puddles and water.
