hey guys

hey all, this is my first post, i should have came to this site when i first picked up my car but no biggie. i have a 2000 TL with the 5spd auto. i've owned the car for 2 years, have put on just over 30,000km's on it, and i enjoy every bit of it. when i bought it, it had a bad upper right balljoint, and the rear brakes needed replacing so i changed the pads and rotors, then did the plugs a month later. it has just over 190,000km's on it, i believe its the original transmission (believe being keyword) it shifts smoothly except for the atf temp. sensor being on it way, i get the odd jerk shift because of it. whats reletively cheap mods i can do to it? im mechanically clined, can do things myself. im hearing slight chatter so im going to have the valves lashed in the next couple weeks. any inputs welcome!!

Colin

they are located at the top of the 2nd gen. TL section here...

Welcome to the forum.

Headers for the TL are 3-2-1...3 outlets at the block, goes to 2 outlets at the J-pipe, and 1 exiting the J-pipe. No such thing as a 3-1 I think. At least, I've never seen a 3 cylinder in a car.

Another suggestion is cold air intake (CAI) instead of SRI.

how would an extra foot of tubing make better gas mileage? SRI i could run all year round, CAI would be tough. anyone know where i can get a shifter plate for my TL? my rear view mirror leaked that black acid crap, ate holes in the shifter plate. i went to the wreckers got one from a 4spd TL, didn't notice that til later.
