Help w/V1 Hardwire
For those of you that have the V1 hardwired w/the concealed unit dispaly, please post pics. of where you put the concealed unit display. I was originally gonna put it on top of the plastic covering for our steering wheel but wanted to see if there was any other place that I could put it.
Nsxnext, could you post pics of your V1 hardwired? If I remember correctly, the arrows were on your rear-view mirror???

The module you mounted on the dash, is that the remote (secondary unit) which links up to the window?
It looks like it impairs the view of the turnsignals.. I'm still trying to figure out where to mount.

This has been discussed before. I think most would agree that it would not decrease performance of the V1 - X, K, Ka but it would significantly reduce any chance of laser detection.

-Higher you mount the radar: X, K, and Ka are improved but laser detection is reduced.
-Lower you mount the radar: X, K, and Ka are reduced but laser detection is improved.
..what would you prefer? They don't use laser too often but I have gotten some laser warnings on I-53 North/South w/my 8500 so I know they do use the laser detection method around here.

I also hear they use laser a lot on I-355! Are you getting a reflection from a cops laser or are they direct hits?
Say a cop is hitting you direct on the license plate, is it possible for the beam to bounce and scatter to hit the detector?
I'll probably mount just about where the rearview mirror is. Maybe below a bit..

Back to the V1 remote,.... I ended up with the main unit at the top of the driver's a-piller in case a cop came to the window he would really have bend over, and look back up in order to see it. It's up in the tinted area, away from prying eyes. It's much easier to see it there, right above the other gauges on the piller.

Thats an interesting place to mount! I never thought of that.. I wonder would that impair the rear detector any? I know they want a straight shot view out the rear window. Have you noticed any degradation of performance with it mounted there?
Also, with it mounted in the corner there, do you have any problems moving the visor around? Seems like it might impair that too?
Great pics!!! Awesome ride.. I too have a 02 TL-S Silver with underbody spoiler package! SWEET!!

Two nights ago it picked up a laser attack at a substantial distance from the front detector. I don't think it's a problem mounted there.
As far as the visor goes, it's all good except it only folds down to a certain point, but it's more than enough, and the side window is no problem at all.
And btw, The silver TL's are the fastest!

I took that piture a while ago to show the getto gauge set-up, not the v1. The remote is no longer mounted there. It was too hard to see, and in the heat of the summer the velcro glue kept melting and wouldn't stay, so I just took it out. The main unit is not shown in that picture. I don't have any pics of the main unit, but I guess I could get busy on that.

Pics would be great! I'm definately going wtih the V1. I just want a safe, conceled place for it for when I goto Toronto.. I hear their unfriendly to detectors!
So basically you have the V1 mounted above the drivers side visor with the remote mounted where?
Do you have the remote wire conceled from the v1 to the remote via the a-frame?
I'm not sure what you have mounted in the glove compartment?

Happy New Years to all. I will be working on hardwiring my V1 tonight since I don't plan on going out b/c of all the cops that have been roaming the area lately b/c of the holiday seasons.
