My side air bag warning light flashed on again today. This is the second time it happened since I had the car. First time was on for only a fraction of a second but this time it was on for like 2 seconds. Anyone else experience this???

Is this a common defect?? Help!

Was anyone in the front passenger seat??? If there was, they were probably leaning on the door or sitting in a position that would trip the SRS sensor. It's normal. If there was no on in the front passenger seat, then you might have a problem

The light will also go off if you have something on the front seat like a package or something. All it has to do is trip a sensor and the light will go on.

Come to think of it my wife was sitting in the front passenger seat leaning on the door panel when the side air bag sensor went off.

The dealer said that if you have a person lighter than 80-90lbs. the sensor thinks that a child is sitting in the seat, so it'll turn the SideAirBag off, also what everyone else stated about the leaning, it's just tripping the sensors.

Just in case you are wondering why that light comes on is that if someone were to sit to the side of the front passanger seat for more than 3 seconds the light will come on. When the light is on, this means that the side airbag will not inflate if you were to get hit on that side. The owner's manual has some pretty cool stuff in it if you are curious about other things about your car.
