HELP! TL-S Issue!
I've had my TL-S for about 2 weeks now and for the most part I love it but I have noticed that it makes a whistling sound from the driver side mirror/window, I can't be sure where and it doesn't do it all the time either.
This sound is very very annoying since it is louder than the wind noise (which I think it's not bad in my TL-S). What the heck is making this sound.
I must have opened and closed my window million times while driving to eliminate this sound but I just can't seem to locate the source.
Any one else hear this sound? You have to listen carefully the first time but once you hear it you'll hear it when it comes back.

Try folding the driver's side mirror back all the way and then try to detect the sound while driving at normal speeds. If you don't hear it after that -- maybe you're due for a mirror casing replacement!!!

lonny,
I bought this from a dealer 300 miles away.
I'll have to pick one of the non-negotiating local dealers to take it back to. Since this problems comes and goes. Who knows, dealer may simply say there is no problem. That's why I like to figure out what the heck is making this noise before I bring it in.
PeterUbers,
Do you think the noise is coming through the side mirrors? What do you mean by the "mirror casing replacement"? I only hear this sound when going 50MPH+.

Today when I was out driving I was hearing that annoying sound again and I decided to fold the driver's side mirror and BAMB, the sound went away. Soon as I put the mirror out I stated hear the sound again. I still can't figure out how a side mirror is making this whistling sound. My wife could hear it from the passenger side with the music on.

Driver --
The mirror casing is the plastic around the mirror, i.e. the box around the mirror that is color coded to your vehicle's color. If the noise is THAT noticeable (it isn't on mine, even on very very windy days) then I would take it in for service and have them replace the entire casing. This noise issue is VERY common on pre-'96 Lexus ES300's (including our old '94) and MANY Lexus owners complained and easily got their mirrors replaced under warranty. Good luck, and lemme know how it turns out.
