Post Help TL diying

My tranny is going crazy. When I drive it "jumps" when the tranny shifts to 2nd and when I reverse I takes about 1 min to engage. I’m taking it to the dealer tomorrow, but I need advice if anyone had similar experiences and warranty info. Also I drive in D5.

1st > 2nd shifting is normal to be a bit harsh. Please explain the "jumping" in more specifics. And as to the gear lagging..it's normal as well.

haha u kinda sound like my dealer mechanic, its normal is his two favorite words, but ya those are normal to a degree, 1 minute to get into reverse is bad though it wouldnt hurt to get a free inspection if ur under warantee

ya 1 min to get into reverse?? From the time I go from Park to reverse, it's instantaneous, but from reverse to drive sometimes is like 1-2 second...not 1 min :wow:

anyways, it's normal for the car to feel jumpy or lurchy when the engine is cold...our trannies have something called grade logic, which modified the shift points, and will shift at a higher RPM's to help warm up the engine asap...

that's why...but if the lurching continues or become violent even after the temp guage reads normal, have that checked out.

definitely have that checked out. Hope it's not your tranny. Even if it is, they will change that under warranty so you have nothing to worry about.
