Help!!! Stupid radio code!!

I got my Tl 3 months ago ish.. And recently I reset my ecu.. I knew I needed a code so I asked my friend for one. And I tried that a few times no luck. I then remembered my car had one near the glove box tried that.. Nothing. I waited till it just read code again (instead of error) and put in the one on the side of my glove. Still nothing. Took my car 30 min to Acura for them to say they need 100$ "radio reset procedure" fuck that! How do I deal with this?! If there's a way to lock it up, how do I unlock it?! I can't stand being without a radio for much longer!! Help!!

dude.. search is your best friend.

unplug the antenna in the back of your radio, put code in, plug back the antenna, and enjoy.

This is easier. Drive to an underground garage or somewhere you cant get a signal. Input code. Enjoy your tunes again

Easy way to take out console. In main console/armrest there are two screws in bottom. They come out. Pull it back. Take off right side woodgrain syrip. Pull up from the armrest side. Now take out screws from right side panel. Now you have access to the antenna. Reach in. the antennas on the back right side of the radio!

there are plenty of covered parking lots- more than 1 level concrete structure- that counts as underground
easier than unpluging the antenna for some

dealer reset method is remove radio- get number off back and look up in computer.
some cars have replaced radios and the original codes wont work

If yours was hand written on the glovebox the last owner was pretty smart!

Funny Idea: Wrap your whole car in tinfoil to block any signals coming in/out then enter the code, no need for an underground garage

this doesn't always work. there's an underground garage near my house and i've tried to go there several times just to put in the radio code but it still doesn't work. unplug the antenna from the back, put in code, replug, and call it a day.

hopefully i can make a DIY for you guys with more pictures.

Just unplug the antenna. someone mentioned that unplugging it from the rear window works well, try that

This is exactly what you. Need to do
1. Take wood trim off center console
2. Take off panel underneath the steering wheel
3. Take off the panel to the right of your right leg when sitting in car
(btw I can't remember if 2 or 3 is first)
You will have access to the back of the radio now. Get some plyers and pull out the antenna (it's the thick black wire) put in code and it should be set.
Also make sure you have the right code

From my Honda days, I thought you disconnect the battery for a bit, reconnect, then input the CORRECT radio code?

I bought my '03 TL used, and the previous (original) owner could not get the code to take. I tried unsuccessfully also, and then found this site.
I didn't want to tear off the console trim to remove the antenna connector, so I tried one of the other suggestions.
Turn off the radio, and start the car. Drive a few minutes to warm up, then pull over (I just drove 10 minutes in the neighborhood). Leave the car in drive, and set the parking brake.
Turn on the radio (it should display COdE and the error number) then punch in the code quickly. That did the trick for me (after many other failed attempts), without an underground garage, and without taking the car apart.
Good luck.

Hey, antenna is unplugged and code still doesn't work. I've been trying repeatedly. Code is correct from car sticker and also Acura website. I am lost with my car console in pieces. Please help.

If you donot know the radio code, sign up myacura.com with VIN# details. It will show you code.

If you input wrong code and radio is locked up, disconnect battery to reset to input code

Yes, it's nuts with the radio code on these cars. If you have the right code, you have to find a place where where there is no signal to put in the code. Why? I don't know but someone said something about satellite signals interfering with resetting the codes. Blame Onstar I guess.

Underground garage can work, disconnecting the antenna, or planting yourself in Death Valley. Anywhere you can't get a radio signal. I tried putting aluminum foil over the windows, but that didn't work and my neighbors got nervous. So an underground garage worked for me. Best of luck

Yea, thanks. Cross your toes. Day two of driving around with console in pieces, finally gave in and out it back together. So, code doesn't work with antenna disconnected from the radio deck itself OR from the rear window. Tried a garage, no luck. Tried driving around, no luck. Tried pulling over a few times, no luck. I really am going to lose it if suddenly one day it just works out of nowhere. Keeping hope alive. Please let me know if you hear of any new ideas!

I had to go two floors underground parking. I would think the antenna disconnect should have worked. I think that is what they do at the dealer.

Yea I've read a lot of people in different forums saying "just keep trying, eventually it works." Pretty ridiculous but apparently for some the code gets denied over and over again until finally it just takes it one day.

Why does a radio signal prevent the code from working?

Hey supergreg, I do not have that answer. Apparently it is just a design defect and has been affecting owners since the late '90's early '00's. I own a gorgeous '05 TL 3.2 and this is the first time I've replaced the battery since owning it (2 years). The code still does not work. I have literally exhausted all options we've discussed here and in any other forum online, but I will not pay a dealership $100 bucks to fix it, nor do I understand how they would do something different than me. It's ridiculous and I cannot understand this.
