HELP SRS Code 9-3

So my SRS light came on and I took it to the dealer, they won't warranty anything here in Canada so I have to fix it on my own.

They scanned the car and I came up with Code 9 - 3 (drivers side seat belt). When they clear the code it stays away as long as you don't plug in the seat belt.

It's not the switch in the latch where the buckle plugs in because the seatbelt light works properly (off unplugged and on when unplugged).

I am thinking that the seatbelt winder itself might be the culprit, but I don't know if theses have switches in them or not.

Any recommendations would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance,

- SS

That code is for 'faulty driver's seat belt buckle switch'. Although the dash light for the buckle may be working, the SRS switch may be totally different. The service manual has a 25 step trouble shooting process for that code. The first two steps are 1) reset the system, buckle and unbuckle several times with ignition in ON position, and see if the light comes back on; could indicate intermittent problem 2) check the no. 9 fuse in the driver's side underdash fuse box. After that, the dianostic steps go into checking resistance on the buckle's connector, and so on.

THANK YOU!!!!

I will go through the bucke again and see. I know the second you plug in the belt the SRS light comes on so I will have to go through the wiring again with my multimeter.

Couldn't find anything wrong so as much as it doesn't make sense, i'm just going to replace the buckle. $80.00 from the stealership, so not too bad.

I will post up if it corrects the problem.

There was if i remember correctly a recall or warranty extension on the buckle. Did you check with the dealer first?
