help please

i have an acura tl type s and i think something died in my car. When i turn on the ac an odor comes out like its a dead mice. The dealership wants like two bills to look at it. I was wondering if any one had this problem before. I beleive i am suppose to take a look at the ventilation sysytem. Anyone knows how to get to the ac ventilation system or knows a site where i can go too.

I think most of the air that comes in for the AC is from the Windshield area of the hood. I might be a dead animal somewhere. My dad had a dead kitten in his engine compartment last winter. I guess they climbed up to stay warm and couldnt get out in time.

Is your car under warranty still? Maybe it's the refrigirant or something? Is it normal to charge for something like that if it's under warranty? I mean, play it off like you don't think it's a dead animal, just say your A/C smells funny. That's what I would do.

when you pull the filters out get some lysol turn the fan on high and spray that in the opening for the filters. many have had issues of bad smells in the condenser area

yeah, it can happen. The corrosion on the terminals or something like that. I haven't personally seen it happen, but I've read on various forums of a few cases where it was the battery. I guess the smell somehow gets into the cabin.

thats why if you have the battery inside the car you are supposed to have it in a vented box thats vented outside

I believe you are referring to the mildew or mold that grows in there? If so, then yes, changing the filters and using lysol will help. But if the smell is from a dead animal, no amount of lysol or changing filters will help.
