help-new tranny q's...

I'm soooo happy! I got my baby back today!
The new transmission is soooo smooth, I can barely feel it. I've noticed several things: It's difficult to discern the shift from first to second under moderate acceleration; I can now drop the car into third at just short of 90mph when before it wouldn't go past 82; in auto mode, if I floor it, the car changes gears itself at red line rather than before; in s/s, I can now shift into the redline area without it skimming; the gear change time in s/s is reduced though still has a lag as before...
Most noticably though, is the smoothness of the tranny. I can go 55mph in second and floor it over and over and the car doesn't lurch or dive as before, just moves forward evenly...In saying that, I'd say that it wasn't as fast as before from the "seat of my pants barometer", but I'm wondering if the smoothness is jsut fooling me...It isn't squealing second gear unless I turn the traction control off (it did so before pretty hard), but then again it's like 80 degrees and 90% humidity today...I did eat a new "z'" on the highway this morning from 45 to about 100 before I backed off...He was beside me and I steady pulled away by about 2 car lengths to 100, so it can't be all that, but it is kinda weird. It doesn't feel as fast, but maybe it just isn't as "jerky" and the sportiness kinda is worn that way...All the stations, clock, etc. are still programmed, so maybe I need to reset the ECU as it doesn't appear that was done...

Please help...

It just feels slower because of the smoothness of the downshift, like you said. It still accelerates just as hard in gear i would guess. you just arent getting thrown into the seat on the downshift.

I would have to agree. It's more than likely just the smoothness of the shifts that are throwing you off. Was this your first tranny replacement?

Yeah, first tranny swap...
I unhooked the battery to reset the ECU at lunch...I'm not auto expert, but I woulda thought they'd disconnect the battery for a new tranny...
Anyway, after a 10 mile highway ride and entering stop and go traffic, it's spinning second again...

I gotta find my friends and test this thing out further over the weekend to make sure I haven't 'lost' anything...
The tranny is still soooooooooo smooth that it is ridiculous...You guys are right, I downshift and it does not jerk at all...Kinda cool...
