Arrow Help needed with seat skin replacement

HI:

Thanks for all the previous help with my questions, you all are so great to help newbies out like myself.

I finally found the skins I need for my driver side seat bottom off eBay. My problem is, will it be easy to just replace the skin on the seat bottom of the driver side seat, or should I get the whole seat and just swap out the seat bottom portion whole without trying to strip off the skin and replacing it with the new skin.

Is the stiching that keeps the seat in place something a person like myself could easily redo, or is that even necessary? Maybe the skin is just held in place with glue?

Any advice here would be so welcomed. I don;t want to strip off the seat skin and then be left with a seat that I cant easily replace the seat skin back on.

Thanks very much for any help you can offer.

Erich

If its a oem replacement you have to remove the seat, then undo the ties and any other thing holding it on. There is no glue or stitching holding it on.
here is a link where someone removed it to get to teh heated seat element

Hello, first post here....Have owned a '03 TL since July '02. Don't know why it took me so long to join...but anyway, I recently replaced leather seat covers on my other car (Miata). Basically, the OEM seat covers in the Miata were held in place by hog rings. You just remove the seat, disassemble the seat bottom from the back portion, and start cutting the existing hog rings out and peeling the seat cover off. I also recommend installing the new seat cover with hog rings also. You could get them here if needed:

Good luck

Thanks for all the advice. I got the skin for a passenger seat bottom that I will use for the diver side seat bottom. I paid 50 bucks for the skin shipped. The skin is also from my same make and year which was also very lucky.
