Best bet is to take it out and dynamat the area along with the trunk, and then get yourself some nice subs.

The stock subwoofer is terrible compared to an aftermarket one. One Audiobahn 15" should be enough for you if you don't listen to music with a lot of base like rap, hip hop, etc...

i have 1 12" Sony Xplod in a sealed box from Q-Logic. if anyone knows that box then u know that u can have it sealed or ported by opening the hole on top and installing the tube it comes with. and thats more than enough and don't really have to dynomat anything.

because the wiring harness doesnt have sub outs. you would have to do a little custom wiring to make it work.
if you need your trunk like i do (that means a sub box is out of the question) hook up a small aftermarket amp to the factory sub. it will sound 100x better. most of my friends have to now look in the trunk because they dont believe its the factor sub

What amp did you hook up and how did you go about it? A stereo install place or DIY? Where is it mounted?

i have a infinity amp (like a 300watt max) hooked up to it. i have a aftermarket HU so i just ran the rca's from the HU sub out to the amp. then hooked the new amp to the sub. i have the amp mounted up aginst the back seat.

What about the sound quality from your speakers with an aftermarket amp? I had (2) 12'' subs and an amp hooked up to my car but the amp was powering the subs, not the stock radio. If I hook up a 300-watt amp to my stock radio, won't it put too much pressure onto the stock radio and the speakers will blow?

I think I will get the small amp only for the subwoofer. I checked Ebay already, but don't know which one fits me, any advise?

reasons:
1. I don't want the amp and subwoofer occupy too much space in the trunk.
2. stay in low profile
3. already got a CD changer in the back from the previous owner , but will take it out soon. Anybody wants it ? that's a sony CD 10 disc changer, excellent condition, will sell it cheap.

BTW, fsttyms1, I got the same interior and exterior color as you do.

Matt. i think a aftermarket amp to the factory speakers will be toooo much for them, get a set of aftermarket speakers if you want to power them by a amp. the factory speakers sound alot better with a aftermarket HU, but i think they are maxed out.

summerlun.
find a small one. mine is medium in size, probably could have found one alot smaller, but i had it laying around.

laguna green and fern!

Nice idea! Did you run all new wires out to the amp then to sub? Also, where did you get the kit to make your aftermarket HU fit with that little storage place under it? That's nifty

yea teh factory amp power isnt sufficent to power a new amp. i ran a new power wire from the battery, new rca's from the HU, and a remote turn on lead (which i already had for my vcr and dvd player) the kit is a metra kit that i sanded with 220, 400wet then 800wet to try to match the factory finish as good as possible
