Sounds exactly like what happened to mine. Was something called a "IACV valve". Don't know what it is or what it does, but they were able to fix it the same day. Hope this helps.

I had that exact same thing happen to me... almost like you're sitting there revving the engine by punching at the accelerator. My dealer said it was the "idle air intake sensor" and replaced it under warranty. By the way, the check engine light finally came on after it did this for like an hour or so.

it is probably your IAC (Idle Air Control). We had that same exact thing happen to my sister's 00' Accord V6. My brother (Mechanic) just bought a new and change it out. It was a pretty simple job. But yeah, chances are it is that.

My car is having a similar problem. I was in a car wash, and when the wash was done, I put it in D5, and the car didn't move. I sat there and put a little gas down, and all it did was rev like it was in neutral. I then put it back in Park, tried putting it in Sequential, but still nothing. It finally went into Drive, but about 50 feet later, while I was in Drive going about 20 MPH, it went back into what seemed like Neutral, because I had it in D5, but the engine was just reving and not giving any power to the tranny like in Neutral. Any suggestions or similar experiences? I have it in a tranny shop, because that seems like a transmission problem. Could it be this idle mechanism that everyone is talking about. Thanks.
