HELP WITH Magnaflows

Got my magnaflows on with Y-pipe earlier today and everytime im done driving i can smell a burning smell from the exhaust...is this just because its breaking in or should it not be doing this? could it be from a poor welding job? Thanks for any help.

I think it's just being broken in. My Apexi had buring smell for first couple of days. I think think you need to worry

yea I'll post pics soon...actually, like kris said earlier, there is that deep sound but its still pretty silent so i had the shop remove my large resonator. With it off, its what i was looking for, but it seems when im accelreating uphill at around 2K RPM it sounds a little like a civic

I'll just let it break in, i'll have to check the welding job to make sure the guy welded all the way around the pipes.

Do you notice any deep, bassy noise from 2k-2800 rpms? with my magnaflows Ive noticed that, regardless of the speed. Im debating whether I should take out the mid muffler and replace it with a 6" round magnaflow...ive already replaced the front resonator with a magnaflow and the two rear mufflers with magnaflows...and i cant imagine the stock mid muffler would make that much of a difference..oh well.

i replaced everything.
from the catback.

i am using the 14" resonator.
around 2200 to 3000 rpm i get a lot resonance in teh cabin.

i think i am going to eitehr replace the 14 and put in the 22" resonator...or i might
add another 144 inch resonator where the premuffler was.

Would you mind telling me how much you paid for the mufflers and y pipe and where please? I'm planning on buying the same thing, but I think I'm going to leave the resonators on since I do want my exhaust to be deep, but quiet.

my piping is 2.5 from where my resonator used to be, up to the Y-pipe. Then 2.25 from there to the mufflers. i ordered from www.completeexhaust.com like joseph...call them and order, they give u a discount on the online prices...i kno Y-pipe part number is 10758, its not on the site so ask when u call

I had the shop remove my resonator...although there is alot of resonance in the cabin, i can live with it...i love a loud obnoxious exhaust.

i will post pics very soon of the setup as well as my CAI i just installed...

i ordered the 14827 off the website...i kno bigman has the 14829 but i prefer the single wall look of the mufflers. I paid 85 bux per muffler and 22 for the Y pipe. 20 bux or so shipping. I was thinking of getting two dual exhaust mufflers but i wasnt up for spending more and i think it might be a little too much, although i remember seeing a TL on these forums a while ago with them and it looked awesome

2.25.

2.5 is big for a tl-p.
maybe a type s.
plus...the stock piping is ovalized.
it is lower profile.
when you have this 2.5 y pipe and all its other piping...it looks really big.

i had the shop paint the piping black.

ahhh...so you get the cabin noise..
i wouldn't mind it so much.

except, the droneing is the right in the 'normal driving' sweet spot.
plus i want to get headers, and i know this likely get a little louder with headers.

http://www.completeexhaust.com/

but there are better pics here.

http://www.hottexhaust.com/

do a search.

i have a 14415 resonator and 2 - 14829.
it needs a bigger resonator...IMO.

and i might have gone with a round muffler...round would have been better.
like the 14813.

i purchased a y pipe but never used it.

oh!....

i have a new, in box magnaflow ypipe for sale!.

mine smellt for a day or 2.

but its gone now.

i noticed a little bump in power.
very little.
just a tad little quicker revving.

they shop also added a hanger at the ypipe.

he actually did nice job.

he also slightly angled the muffler so they fit up into
inner wheel area and they don't look so big from the side..

and he used different muffler hanging points on the muffs.
different than stock.

the large resonator, you are referring to is a muffler.....a pre-muffler.
it is not straight thru like the resonator is.

or the 14824.

also.

if you have a bodykit.

the 7" tip just barely made it flush.

an extra inch would give more tolerance.

the shop had to pay close attention to mounting the muffler close enough
to make it flush.

i wanted the tips to extend past the kit..like 1/2 an inch.

but there is not enough tip length with 7" and a bodykit.

which is why most people buy the 9" tip addon tips.
for the bodykit...

if you can find documentation on that price. get it..
John at completeexhaust will do better.
i'm tellin ya.
if it is that important..shop it out.

also ..the magnaflows have a real nice
blackened etching on the top of the tip, not the side..
like all the others.

so when one walks around the car and looks down...u see the etching.

not bad for an American made product!..

i have that deep bassy noice from like 2k-2500 rpm but i dont have my mid muffler, i had it taken out.

hey joseph, hows the sound btw with the 14" resonator? is it loud or just as loud with the stock mid-muffler? I'm thinking of getting the 18" resonator but im afraid it might quiet the exhaust too much.

i have the 14".

it is loud at the 2k-3k range.

i dont want to quiet it down too much either.

so far..i've done nothing cause i like it..but the family doesn't....

i replaced the stock res with the 14" mag res.
but...there is nothing where the premuffler was.

i might put another 14" there.
because i think it lis oud thru the pipe that goes under the back seat.

i don't know.

i'm in no hurry.

the stock resonator is like 10"....
i could re-use in the place of pre muffler..
