Question Help, I need some good advice!!!!

I called the dealership last night and asked if they had a 2002 TL-P in Satin Silver, and they said no, but he said that there was only one left that he could get from out of state. I've checked all the other Acura dealerships in NC and none of them had the 2002 in Silver. I get to the dealership this evening and find out that the Silver TL is not available. The dealer said that since I went through all that trouble to drive to the dealership(2hr drive), that he would give me a 2003 TL-P for $28,200. I tried to haggle him down lower, but he wouldn't budge. He is suppose to receive the car in a couple of days and will call me when it arrives. Do you guys think that $28,200 is a fair deal for a 2003 TL-P? Do you think that insurance rates would be much higher for the 2003 as opposed to the 2002? I was all set to get the car today!!!1 Thanks in advance.

Hell no.. don't go for it for 28,200

unless it was NAVI that is

The insurance companies probably won't have the 2003 in their records yet and only classify it as a 2002, so it'll be the same..

btw, Silver is TOO COMMON..

They only had black in the 2002's and the lowest they would go for any 2002 was $27,600.

Let your feet do the talking!

In order to get the price you want, you must be willing to walk away. The last new car I brought required visiting and called 3 dealerships. Try the fax attack or email attack approach. Search this site for how to do it. You can also try the buying services at Sam's Club or Costco. Play the dealers against one another. Use the Acura web site to find dealers in SC, VA, TN, WVa. Also, use Kelly Blue Book, Edmunds, etc. to determine the dealer cost and work UP from there. Never work DOWN from the sticker price. Do some searches on this site. The 2003 prices went up a little. Just remember there will be more 2003 SSM TL-Ps EXACTLY like this one. That one of the great things about the "everything is included" approach Acura takes. Remember, the dealers HAVE to sell cars, you don't HAVE to buy (at least from a particular dealer). Patience can save you $1000s!! It's your money and you are in control! Good luck!

Is 28,200 a good price for a 2003 TL-P non navi? And do you think it would affect insurance rates that much between 2002 and 2003? I'm getting so frustrated with this buying process, that I am thinking aobut not getting the car at all

DONT GIVE UP...hehe The TL is a great car and ull love it once u have it. however, i wouldnt take that 2003 deal unless there was a navi system, you could definitely get a better deal. BTW i find it hard to believe that the dealer cant find ANY silver TLs...gl on ur search, itll be worth it wen u finally get the car

Talking

I agree, how the f*** do they not have a TL in silver, espcially at an Acura dealership? $28,000 for a 2003 TL-P is way overpricing. You can find a 2002 w/navigation for about the same price. Get navigation, trust me! Just having navigation makes your car elite and it looks cool. hahaha.

i have a silver TL...and sometimes I wish I got a black TL or the electron blue one...but silver is super nice... I just gotta wait til summer when I can actually clean my car and make it look nice for 2 or 3 consecutive days without the weather dirtying it up again.

but i'm also surprised that dealership does not have silver.....GET THE COLOR U WANT, ur gonna pay alot of money for the car, might as well get exactly what you want.

good luck

I've called all the Acura dealerships in the state(about 7 of them), none of them have the 2002 TL-P in silver. Anthracite is my first choice BTW, and nobody has that color either. All the dealers that I've talked to have brought in their 2003 inventory. BTW, the $28,200 that they quoted me does include the destination. From the look of things, most of you guys believe $28,200 is an unfair price for a 2003 TL-P non-navi. Edmunds is quoting MSRP and TMV at $29,460(inc. destination). So I am assuming that invoice will be about $26,900 since the 2002's are at $26,800(inc. destination). What price range do you think is fair? Most of these dealers are hard pressed to move much from sticker. I just want to see how low they can get the base model down to first before I decide on the navi isssue

i dont think some of these members have taken into account the fact that the TL is now a popular model so there is no way that youre gonna get anywhere near the dealer's invoice price and the dealer would rather walk away than give you the TL at a lower price than other dealers...i think the price the dealer is giving you is reasonable in light of the fact that the TL is popular as hell now.

Question Distressed mercahandise?

Has any one ever heard of "Supply and Demand"? I'm in the car business and my best friend sells Acuras. He tells me they have only one TLP remaining in stock. You think there gonna sell it for Factory Invoice? That's funny! You want a better deal on a car then come to my Chrysler store. I'll sell you one $3000 below factory Invoice! We can't even sell them at that price! You really think $1300 over Factory Invoice is too much to pay? Hell I'm in the business and I paid $1200 over for my Type S and was glad to do it! Just wait and get the 2003. Only about $600 more for 1 year newer and any selection of color. Just pay it and put this to bed! Your gonna love the car! Good Luck!

Red face Discounting Tls

One other thing I will mention. My friend at the Acura store tells me they sell 100 new Acuras a month. They are only alloted 100 cars from Acura per month. He tells me they are alway's sold out 3 weeks into every month, and left without Inventory for a week! More buyers than cars! You know what that means? It means it will keep the value up on pre owned TLs. There getting top dollar he tells me for all year used TLs. We gotta love that gang!

I appreciate your advice folks. If I can get it for about $1000 over invoice, then I'll be satisfied. Billyvader, you are a trip I have two dealers competing to sell me the car, so whoever gives me the best deal, that's who I will go with.

i'm not surprised by the popularity of the TL, but I also know that MDX's are selling out at almost all Acura dealerships, good time to be working as a sales rep at an Acura dealership.
