My buddy has a 99 4 cycl accord ex that makes a funny squeeking noise when turning lightly ie-interstate merging, and hard turning. My first diagnosis was his power steering belt, however it does not make the noise on startup, which leads me to belive this is not what it is. Also, it does it when it is hot and cold, dry and wet.

I know this is a TL fourm ( I have an 01 TL), but I figured this is as good a group as any to ask, since most of us prob have owned a honda at some point in our past. Thx for any help or suggestions...

 

Does it happen only at high speed? My last car (89 Accord) made a "squeaking" noise at highway speed whenever you turned the wheel left. Turned out to be something to do with the shock, or one of the points where the shock connected to the car. They replaced some washers, greased the suspension, tightened everything back up - squeak was gone.

 

My 92 Accord had this squeak for the last 2 years. It was mostly when hard cornering on an on-ramp but could happen anywhere and even under light turning. I ended up replacing upper/lower ball joints on both sides and it's like new now with over 400,000 km.

 

Thanx fellas, I did find the problem - it was the brake wear gaurds. Once he got new brakes the noise went away...
