Help: AEM CAI broke (?!)

So I was looking under the hood today and the side bracket that holds the CAI in place completely ripped off. There's now a whole in the tube. Looks like metal fatigue or something. Has this happened to anyone else? Any thoughts on the best way to proceed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe

Unfortunately, this seems to be a common problem with the AEM CAI. I'd suggest you pick up some JB Weld and use that to fix it. You can find it in your local hardware store.

Here's a link to their site so you can recognize it (link).

I would suggest taking the opportunity to pick up a comptech icebox. Although it doesn't look as "ricey," in my opinion i think that you would appriciate the cleaner look... you can find them for round $150-$250 on the black market...

Be sure to temporarily seal up the tube till you fix the hole. You wouldn't want dust and junk bypassing the filter and getting into the engine.

Any suggestions on the best way to seal it till I can fix it? It's supposed to rain pretty hard the next two days and I REALLY don't water getting in there...

Thanks,

Joe

Duct tape would work. You can always clean the tape glue off with some goo gone or something like that before you patch it.

like fla-tls said earlier. get some jb weld and attach the piece back on. the jb weld should be strong enough to hold the piece on and it will plug the hole
