Help, AC is dead!

Hi guys,

I got a problem here today... It was raining here this afternoon and I parked the car in the parking lot. The drain system sucks and it was water all over the parking lot. Cars have to pass the "pond" in order to get out of the parking lot.

There was no problem when I got out, but within a minute, the AC is dead. Some of my friend said it might be the fuse? Any other suggestion? I didn't want to bring it to dealer 'coz they'll charge some really high price just for inspection!

Please help!

Some basic stuff to check :

Is the compressor running when you turn on your AC ?
Is the electric fan spanning when you turn on your AC ?

How deep was the water when you drove through it ? I don't believe it would actually cause the fuse to blow since it will also blow somthing else but anything could happen

Cheers !!!

Let it sit for an hour then try again. Something's probably just wet and needs to be dried.

That's the thing I am not too sure, I don't think the compressor is running..... does that mean I'll need to replace a new compressor??

I let it sit for hours but still the same...
The water was pretty deep.... deep enough to over almost the front bumper, I think it might cause the trouble of the fan!

does the compressor kick in while the engine is running? you should be able to hear weather or not it does. check out the fuses there might a blown one. other than that you might have to bring it to the dealer

There are two fans... one is spanning while the AC is on....
so I guess it might be the compressor....

Are both of the fans supposed to be spinning while AC is on?

Both fans shoudl run with the A/C on. There is a 20 amp dedicated fuse for the compressor in the under hood fuse/relay box. Lift off the lid and look on the underside of the lid for a diagram. Check that first. I would also check to see if you have enough 134 a. Maybe you have a leak and the pressure switch wouldnt allow the compressor to kick on to prevent internal damage.
