Help!

today i was driving back home and my AC stops working. it starts blowing out air like you just turned on the fan, and no AC. i get home about 5 min later and pop the hood. there was a puff of blue smoke that came out of the engine bay. yes, a slight blue puff of smoke and i have no idea why. it had a terrible burning smell that is just plain bad. i'm guessing my AC compressor went out but i'm not sure. service wont open up will tuesday i think and i'm in AZ where it is deathly hot. anyways, if any of you guys have experienced this and have knowledge on this subject, i'd love to hear. thanks for any help.

check your antifreeze levels. that be the green shit you put in the radiator. when you look at the car, its the first thing you see with a silver cap.

similar thing happened to me and it turned out ny antifreeze was low

probably not antifreeze level. Sounds like a leak in your compressor. Did you smell that shitty burning smellm while you were driving? I'd jack the car up or put it on ramps and check underneath for any leaks. Chances are you need a new compressor.

start up the car and look at the belt. and compressor. is the compressor wheel spining? with the engine off does the belt look schorched or burnt?

If thats the case it could be the compressor clutch.

Rule of thumb for classifying smoke colors.......

Blue smoke = Class C fire (electricial problem)
White smoke = Class A fire (wood, paper, cloth...something that is going to leave an ash)
Black smoke = Class B fire (fuel, oil.. petro products)

Just my 2 cents worth.......

Clarifaction.....
when an engine blows (ie: like when racing and you lose a cylinder) the oil will cause the smoke to be blue.... but if the oil is actually burning, the smoke will be black....)
