I have a big dilema, I've been searching for car and the 3.2TL Type S was the front runner. I had a look at the new 2002 Maxima SE. Both cars have the same features 'cept minor differences. I am not sure which one to get. The price difference is $3300. I've heard the Acuras have been in the shop.

Can someone please help me decide..

 

I was in the same position as you. Have you taken both for a test drive? Maxima and Acura TLS are both great cars. The Acura may have a little more features but at a higher price. Check out the Maxima website. Members have had problems with the Max also. If you can spend the extra $ for the Acura, go for it. If not, the Maxima is a great car. I have owned a 97 Max SE and rented several 2001 SEs

 

if you want to have a stick, the maxima se should be the car to get. otherwise i would say tls. our car is more comfortable and better performance (compared to maxima auto) imho.

 

Remember that every car has their share of problems.

Here is my answer:
If you want a stick, get the Max SE
For everything else, get the TL-S

I took both the Maxima and 3.2TLS on Sunday for a test drive. I have to say the Maxima had more "punch" to it. As I said before, both have the same major features.

You probably did not push the TLS hard enough... I found a BIG difference when driving the 4 speed Max to the 5 Speed TLS.. Of course I drove them back 2 back within a 30 min span.

Get the TL-S.......Maximas have problems too. I say it's all up to the owner and how they drive.
