Hello. I'm new. Fresh from the CL forum.

Hey guys. Just traded in my 1999 CL for the 2003 TL-S. Please bring me up to speed on the cool shit. Recalls. Common problems. Shit to look out for. The CL was a complete nightmare. Nice car but hit 90,000 miles and the damn thing starts going to pot. I'm hoping to have better luck with the TL.

I've been in car audio for about 7 years now. If you need any help with audio, remote start, alarms, etc. I'm the guru. If you need any tech info on the car. I've got access. ANY car.

Thanks Y'all.
-Travis in Washington.

like stated above. you probably kknow every thing about the tl having come from the cl. just about every thing made for the cl is made for the tl, lots of things are interchangable.

-1st timer, I put a DEI 561t on the CL last week. Had it on for 3 days. It's the only one I'd recommend for that car to integrate the factory security. Please expect to pay about $400 bucks for the install. About $100 bucks for the product. The TL is the hardest car I've ever done an alarm/remote start for.

-PDX3.2TL, What search button?

I wanna intake the TL. What have you all had luck with. I don't want cheap. I want a quality reliable product.

use "Search Forum" button at top of main forum page. Jus type "intake", u should get a million pages or so.
Bottom Line on Intakes:
- They're just pipes with a filter on the end
- AEM and Injen CAI are the same as are all the no name Intakes on ebay.
- AEM V2 is only distinct one, but its only for TL-P so don worry about it.

I went with AEM, got it for 185 shipped off ebay. good price so i took it, and i love the intake more every day. Ur gonna lose mileage though b/c u WILL wanna keep flooring the car.

Welcome to the board.

Is the DEI 561t only a remote starter? I'm guessing it is, since you said it's a hundred bucks. And will installation really cost 400 bucks? Geez.

The 561t or 561r is Remote Start and Keyless Entry with Lightflash and Aux (trunk pop). You DO NOT want to replace your factory security. Well.. maybe you do. But you'd pay about $800 bucks to have the same shit you have right now. But it would add a shock sensor and siren.
If you get a good installer and find the security mod. you can add a shock and prox to the factory security.

you don't need to know where the security unit is, all you need to know is the wire for factory arm, disarm and disarm defeat if you want to integrate the stock remotes, all tl comes with factory remotes, so it is not like the accord ones where some have a oem security harness with "T" harness that goes to the optional oem brain...because i don't know where the unit is it, i am pretty sure is build in one of the multiplex by passenger glove box

So it is possible to add aftermarket sensors to the factory security system? I'm mainly concerned for the headlights and the trunk. I want to add additional shock sensors, and a motions sensor for the interior.

What exactly is the function of a proximity sensor? Is that the same as a motion sensor?

motion detect people jack up the car for wheels
prox detect people walking too close to check inside interior or reach inside or jump in for a convertible

That's one hell of a run-on sentence.

The Acura factory security has starter kill. So unless you diode isolate 2 new ignition input wires to the factory module... The car will not start. One from the new remote start brain and a second off a relay, triggered by the starter wire from the remote start brain.

AND.... A proximity sensor and a motion sensor are the same thing. Some people just call them different names. A TILT sensor would help against wheel theft.

Can you answer this question for me please unclad4?

I recently got a Clifford RSX 3.5 alarm with autostart and I added auto-up windows (when you lock the car) to all the windows. How much would that be installed (assuming I bought the alarm at the shop and installed it at the same shop)? I just want to know because the installer said I got "hooked up," but I'm not sure. Just wondering how much this setup would run at other shops.

That's a fucking DOOZIE! You put that on a newer TL? WOW! IF it works right at all consider yourself "HOOKED UP". That's a tough one. I think that the RSX 3.5 goes for about $400 bucks including basic labor. You should have paid around $750 to $800 bucks if you put it on a newer TL. Then you should have paid about $100 bucks per window mod and about $100 labor for each mod. A TL would need 2 window mods. That's about $1150 bones man. Minimum.

From time to time installers get anxious. This last week I've been sittin' on my ass. So if a fatty car came in I'd discount my labor to get the deal.

-Please use those prices I gave you as a guide. All shops are different and carry different product. It sounds like the quoting installer under estimated the work and product needed to complete the install. Most installers won't backpedal and try to charge you after the mess has been uncovered.

Thanks alot I'm too embarassed to tell how much I paid for this alarm, but you're in the ballpark I have a 2003 TL-S (not a 2004 if thats what you're referring to). Don't know how hard it is to put in the RSX 3.5 but it works perfectly fine and it's integraded with the stock alarm (so the installer says )

O yeah, and welcome to the TL board

No reason to be emarrased. You're a smart one.

-You bought good product.
-Had it installed correctly.
-And understand the value of a good product and a good install.

Way to be a good car owner. At work we have a peg board we call "The Neglected Honda Club." We have pics of some dumb shit. People will do anything to save a buck.

Thanks for caring for your Honda. It will care for you also.

proximity and radar is the same type
dei 507t is the new tilt/motion sensor
old school 500t the black box with a big dial is call motion sensor is for picking up jacking or towing

on my 2002 i got alpine alarm with remote start, you don't need to put relays to interrupt ignition wires like the older factory integra and accord with stock alpine made brains, just pulse the factory disarm wire from the remote starter to the stock alarm it will start as long as you already did the transponder bypass

REV-01.... You're breakin' it down to me. Step by step and shit. For that.... I give you props. What kinda car you got? What's your background? What do you do now? I'm interested. Thank you for showing interest and knowing what you're talking about. That's rare among these boards. We can be friends bro.

Which Alpine alarm do you have?

HA! I almost got 2 years on ya. Kidding. The 8063 is oldschool man. But the last of the good alarms that alpine made were that year. I think that larm came with the cool sounding siren. Like I had on the CL. Very distinctive.

The wire you were talking about earlier was the "Disarm no unlock" wire at the key cylinder. If you tag any other unlock wire it will disarm the car but leave the car unlocked when you R/S it.

Anywho... I hope business is well. We been slow as dog pooh the last two weeks. So send us some damn customers man!

Ooh Ooh. Let me touch it! The 8081 is the fattness! I love that remote. I'm gonna atempt the 561R in the TL tomorrow. Wish me luck. I'll let you know how it goes..

Also, I gutted the airbox from the fender in the TL. HUGE difference. The shit sounds mean! And it lights up the tires nicely!!

What shop in Hawaii?
