Heh...guess he made the wrong decision!

Just heard that the previous owner of my '99 TL HATES his new '04 TL. I bought his '99 when he decided to order an '04. I don't know exactly what he dislikes about it, but heard from another person that the guy just "hates" his new car and has also been in an ongoing battle with Honda and Acura (head office) over a wheel issue. So I'm not sure if that is tinting his view of the actual car.... I was a bit surprised to hear that!! Hmm...wondering if he'd like to buy his old car back and I'll snatch his '04! :facelick: Hehehe.. don't think that'll ever happen. He seems to have a habit of buying first model year cars: the '99 and now the '04....

Well if its the same tire problem most people have been having with the '04 TL it has to do with flatspotting on the stock Turanza tires. If you look in the 3rd Gen forum you'll see a lot of comments about the flatspotting and Acura has generally been good about replacing them with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires instead.

Something about the material used in the Turanza tire cause flatspotting if the car sat for more than a day or two. Generally cold weather was the culprit.

Again, just search the 3rd gen forum and you'll find plenty of complaints about the Turanza tires.

Nope... I think the problem had to do with the wheel, not the tire. From what I understand so far, the guy took his '04 back five weeks after delivery complaining of the wheel shaking while he drove (not matter what speed). I think they told him he had a bent wheel or something, but wouldn't replace it since he'd had posession of it for five weeks with no complaints - thought he did it himself. Seriously can't wait to hear what other issues are causing him to 'hate' the car though...

Honda had it's own specifications for the design of the Turanza EL42, indicated by a PVC emblem on the tires' sidewall. They will flatspot very easily and Honda is replacing them with the EL42 compound originally produced by Bridgestone.
