ok, ill try to explain but i need some advice here before i start diging..... ok my head lights used to work just fine no probs. did the whole backing removing the yellow out of the head lights , looks tight last night had my car parked, and was plaing with the remote to see how far it works, ... so normally when u press the lock button once when the car is already locked, it flashes the lights, once, which mine does but my pasenger one begins to light up and then stops. like not enough power going to the HID or something, funky looks like its trying to expload but cant, BUT when i hit the unlock botton the lights come on all the way just find no probs. also once i putmy lights back in that same HID points up a bit compared to the drive side one?? could that have some impact on the explosion process of the zeon?? Has any one had this prob??? is the the bulb or the computer , since it does light up fine when i unlock the car or turn the lights on when driving..... please help... i dont want to drop no 300bills on lights again...........

I'm pretty sure your lights are fine as long as they light up when you turn them on while driving...

Sometimes the capacitor in the Ballasts can't charge up fast enough when you use your remote thingy... I don't know if this is true (hasn't been proven) but IMO I don't believe the quick flashing of the HID's can be good for the BALLASTS or the bulbs...hence like most members I have the FOG RELAY mod (see FAQ) and when needed keep those on... so when I get back those flash and the HID's stay off..

My car does the same exact thing. I've seen several tl's do the same thing on the pass. side as well.

Maybe the length of the harness is longer on the pass side and and due to the greater resistance, it doesn't get enough "juice" during that quick moment the lights are flashed to power the ballast's

 

funny thing is that it never used to do that before i cleared out my corners......... anyone else see their lights do this???

 

my light does the same little flicker your talking about too... ever since day one. when i took it to the dealer for its first oil change i asked them to look at it they said its normal.

 

Did you do the fog light mod? I've heard from some people that if you have done the fog light mod *and* you leave the headlights on auto (they turn off after you get out of the car and turn on when you unlock it), this can be the cause of it. I shut my headlights off manually so I have never experienced this problem myself.

 

Wait .. are u guys suggesting that ur actual HID bulbs light on when u guys lock/unlock doors. Reason being is my car orange lights (side markers so is to speak !) go on when i lock/unlock.. but never HID bulbs go on. BTW, i drive a '03 TLS.

I have a BONE STOCK 02TLS and whenever I unlock my doors with the remote, These are the lights that flash...

The two front ORANGE turn signals
The two rear RED tail lights
The rear license plate light
The inside Dome light.

The outside lights flash TWICE and the dome light stays on for 30 seconds. If you don't actually open the door within 30 seconds, the doors re-lock again automatically.

SO, I too, am confused about having the HID lights come on by unlocking the doors. There has to be something going on that wasn't stated in the original post. There has to be some mod or mods that are involved to interact with the HID lights. In that case, Once you mess with the stock wiring... ALL BETS ARE OFF... Each person may do the mod slightly differently and may end up with different results... Whatever the mod is in the first place???

 

if u leave ur head lights on when u get out of ur car and lock ur car, ur lights will go off, and then when u either unlock ur car or just hit the lock button all the lights will flash, but if u leave ur car and turn off ur hids but have ur parking lights on then only them will flash
if u have ur light completlyoff the parking lights will flash for a sec when u either lock or unlock
if u leave ur lights on and turn off the car, when u unlock they will come back on for like 30 secs, or if u hit ur lock button they will flash for a sec.. does that make sence?

 

Southbound
The mod allows you to turn on the fog lights with just the parking lights. The normal operation is that they only turn on with the low beams.

 

Gotcha guys... Thanks for clearing up the confusion! Unfortunately, I can't help with what might be wrong with 007s situation, other than the longer run of wire to the passenger side as others have suggested????

 

dealer says it's normal and showed me new TL's in the parking lot that do the same thing to prove his point ...........
