Heat problem
Heat problem
I have an'03 TL-Type S and as of this week my heat is taking longer than usual to crank up. I turn the fan on and cold air comes out, even after I've been driving for more than ten minutes. And when it does come out, it's not as hot as it usually is. The temp gauge is where it should be and antifreeze is fine. What could possibly be the problem?
My guess is that your thermostat is not fully opening, but you said that the temp gauge is reading normal..........does it take longer to get to that point ? If so, maybe the t-stat is sticking. Make sure that the coolant ratio / level is not low and that there's no air within the cooling system. Another thing may be possibly a faulty coolant valve which is mounted on engine side of the firewall. One last culprit could be the temp sensor for the automatic temperature controlling used in our TL's hvac system. Good luck, try the simple stuff first !
